Adios, Messico!
Cause I don’t need you NO more!
You know how ordinary people, in times of great duress, discover extraordinary inner strength and overcome life’s obstacles?
Well, I had obstacles.
And, now…I am extraordinary.
On this, the twelfth day of February, two thousand and eight, I present to you

Ta daaaaa
Cherrye’s Totally Inventive and To-Die-For Blood Orange Margarita!
Yes, friends, it is true. When faced with the harsh realities of this bitter life, I did what any other red-blooded southeast Texana would do.
I made a margarita.
And, it was goooood.
Here’s the scoop!
- Equal parts Tequilla and Contreau
- Juice from one small blood orange
- A spoonful of sugar (feel free to sing along)
- A spash of cold water (or, if you live in any part of the world that actually produces ICE, this would work, too!)
Then, shake it up, baby, and enjoy!!!
So, tell me. What is your favorite Rita? How do you like her, shaken or frozen? Have any special recipes to share today? Tell me. Tell me. I can’t wait to hear!

I go for the classic rita on the rocks with no salt. Your recipe using blood oranges sounds yummy. Will need to try.

I’m not too sure if others will know what a Chilis is….it’s a restaurant. The have a margarita called The Presidente. It’s served in a shaker on the rocks. I do have the recipe:
1 1/4 ounces tequila
(SAUZAS COMMEMORATIVO)
1/2 ounce Cointreau liqueur
1/2 ounce brandy (PRESIDENTE)
4 ounces liquid sweet and sour cocktail mix
1/8-1/4 fluid ounce lime juice (splash)
I love it in a martini glass lined with salt.
I must say that I’m laughing pretty hard about the special instructions for readers in small print. I do wish we could share a drink together and catch up!

Ok..I have to be honest. I actually went outside to get a lemon, but it was too dark by the lemon trees, so I grabbed a blood orange instead! I’d say that was a segno di Dio!
Michelle - I have to do something to pass the time here in Calabria! You know…
Megan - Let me know what you think.
Stephanie - That sounds good, too! You see, it is that margarita mix that gets me. Can’t find it here!!
Linda “cin cin” back to you!! I’m normally a frozen rita gal, but in a country without ice, well, options are limited!
Erin! I’m actually typing this from the train to your house! lol. We don’t give them to all of our guests, but you and Chris’ll get one for sure!
Nice, Brooke. Don’t forget the sugar. Without it!! OUCH!
Brandi - Thanks for the recipe! I wonder what I could substitute for the sweet and sour mix! Can’t get that here!!
Oh, Louise…it was!
Joe - pear mojito? Sounds HEALTHY! I love it!
The first time I had mojitos was at South Beach in Miami - AMAZING. Then, I had one at TGIFs…not sooo much.
Nadine-I like Cosmos, too. I was really into those before I moved here. We have a great little Tapas and Martini Bar in Beaumont. When I saved enough $$, I’d go!

Cherrye,
This is your mother….clean up your language…..and you sound like a drunk! You told me that you never drank alcohol until after you graduated from high school, and it sounds like you are making up for lost time.
