The Castle in the Sand

Somewhere, 40 minutes from Catanzaro, nestled in the Crotone District and backed into the Ionian Sea is Calabria’s very own sand castle. It is true!

Well….it LOOKS like a sand castle.
According to the official website for Le Castella, the goddess Calypso lived there with Ulysses “for a long time.”

"Till Death Do us Part"

… what a SCARY concept! Yuck. I mean who wants to think about the dead, dying, and death on the happiest day of their lives? Not me! I want to think happy thoughts…positive thoughts…

What Do You Get When You Mix

Italian Bureaucracy and Wedding Planning?
Easy sailing?

I’m a BIG FAT Italian Testimone

Or, at least I will be in a few days.
Peppe’s best bud is getting married this weekend in a little ole town near Naples called Benevento. And, we are making the trip!
We have no choice, ya see…WE are the testimone, or the witnesses, or for lack of an even better term - the Maid of [...]

Someone Onced Asked

me what I miss most about America (besides the food, she added). That got me to thinking…

I miss…

- squeeze hugs from Cole.

- weekend shopping trips with my mom, grandma, sister, aunts, and cousins (and finding a 75% off sale at the mall).

- forming a line to receive communion.

- driving wherever I want - without an [...]

Ladies and Gentlemen

Raise your glasses…

Put a smile on your face…

Prepare to make a speech…

Oh, wait. That would be ME who has to make a speech, right?

Il Cedro Bed and Breakfast

Officially Open

(Ringing bells and blowing whistles inserted here.)

But, in keeping with the “let’s-take-as-much-of-your-time-as-we-can” plan, it [...]

Woo Hoo!
